2017 D23 EXPO Planning Guide

It’s that time of (the every two) year(s) again! The Disney D23 Expo is around the corner. It seems like just yesterday we were celebrating Shanghai Disneyland opening and wandering around the Archives exhibit and watching the Studios presentations about all the new and next things coming our way with Disney, Marvel, and Star Wars. I truly can’t believe it was actually 2015 and that it is now 2017 and we are getting ready to experience the madness insanity non-stop fun once more! I thought I would again put together a one-stop shop for all of the official D23 updates about Expo and my best planning tips. I’ll continue adding to this page leading up to the Expo.

Tickets for D23 Expo 2017 are available for $81 for one-day adult admission and $59 for children 3–9. Members of D23: The Official Disney Fan Club can purchase tickets for $72 for a one-day adult admission and $53 for children 3–9. Multi-day tickets are also available. For more information on tickets and D23 Expo 2017, visit D23Expo.com.

EXPO Tips:

  • Once the schedule is officially out, decide what presentations are the most important to you and plan accordingly. You’ll need to check for presentation overlaps and take into account location of presentations and that there may already be a very long line waiting to get in to the bigger (and in most cases even the smaller) presentations, and you may get shut out when they cut the line off. Sadly, this is just the way of conventions, which is why you must decide which things you want to be sure not to miss.
  • Download the D23 Expo app, available in the Apple App Store and Google Play. This is your bible during the Expo to keep track of the schedule, organize which things you want to attend and get up the the minute push notifications directly from D23 to let you know what presentations are full and other news you can use. If you don’t have the app saved from past Expos, it will be available closer in to the actual D23 Expo dates for downloading.
  • If you are attending with friends or know people who are going to Expo, get together and see if you can hand off line-waiting duties or coordinate bathroom/food breaks while someone holds down the fort in line.
  • There will be lines for everything, not just main events. Merchandise lines for the Dream Store and Mickey’s of Glendale can be hours-long, so be sure you are prepared for that and do it during off-times between presentations. Be sure to leave time to explore the show floor and the fun to be found there too.
  • Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and have some snacks or bottled drinks with you, because there will be a lot of standing, walking, and not much time to eat!
  • In the past couple of Expos, D23 has utilized a fast pass system of sorts to reduce some of the line waiting. They have not announced whether this will be in place this year, but I will update here when they announce that or any other specifics, so bookmark this page! 😀
