My childhood became a single parent one at age 14 and I think it definitely changed things...it is sometimes difficult to agree when your partner has differing views on discipline, etc. That's a really interesting take on it. I rarely had to lift a finger too and do get a bit of entitlement as a result. I've taken steps to ensure my kids can function on their own (putting laundry away, making school lunches etc.) so that it's not seen as a 'chore' when they get older, but rather just part of life.
