Epic Mickey Brings a Whole New World to Disney Gaming!

7 October 2010 by Suzannah Otis 5 Comments

In our house, we’ve been talking about Disney Epic Mickey for a long, long time. With my husband and son being avid gamers, they were super excited about both the advanced gameplay that would be present in Epic Mickey and the Disney characters brought to life from Oswald the Lucky Rabbit all the way through to present day. In case you haven’t seen what Epic Mickey is all about, here is what Disney has to say:

“Disney Epic Mickey is an action-adventure platforming game for the Wii console that sends Mickey Mouse on an epic journey of creativity and discovery.  As Mickey, the player is propelled into Wasteland, an alternate world made up of Disney’s long forgotten characters and attractions, and is given the power to wield paint and paint thinner to dynamically change the world while determining Mickey’s path to becoming an epic hero.

Through the use of this unique paint and paint thinner, the key components of animation and Mickey’s tools for impacting his world, players will have the ability to shape how the story unfolds as they discover the concept of “Playstyle Matters” – an innovative style of gameplay created by Disney Interactive Studios’ Junction Point, led by industry luminary Warren Spector, where players creatively tackle different challenges in the world to explore all the possibilities and storylines – but with consequences for their chosen actions.”

Here is the full trailer showing the story of Epic Mickey —

Amazing, isn’t it?? Now that you’ve checked that out, take a look at this behind the scenes trailer with Warren Spector and other game designers. In this video they’ll share just what went into making Epic Mickey so, well, EPIC!

Disney Epic Mickey will be available on November 30 in North America, November 26 in the United Kingdom and November 25, 2010 in Europe, exclusively for the Wii console. We’ll keep you posted with any other info we find out about the game!

About Suzannah Otis

A child of the 80's, Zanna climbed trees and roller-skated till the streetlights came on. She sipped her her first iced coffee at age 10 and never looked back. Growing up outside of Boston, all of these things shaped her life, as did the original EPCOT Center, which brought her where she is today.

Zanna is the mother of 2 adult humans, a 13-year old (also human), and 6 (yes, 6) cats. She is also the wife to one husband, who lovingly puts up with all of the above. Zanna tries to find that one little spark in everything, and thanks you very much for taking the time to read this.

I’m excited about this one as well. Got a brief preview at a media event over the summer and thought it was gorgeous. Oh, and I love the nod to Oswald!

I wish it wasn’t a Wii exclusive. I’d get the xbox kinnect if they make Epic Mickey for the 360 Kinnect.
