Disney Fan Site Spotlight – Disney Character Central

I will be the first to admit that I can’t keep up with the many amazing Disney blogs, sites, and information provided by and for fans that are out there. Every now and then, however, one pops up on my radar that I feel needs sharing immediately. This is definitely the case with Disney Character Central. This site combines two of the best parts about visiting a Disney park – great photos and Disney characters! The photos are beautifully shot and perfectly organized by character type as well as Disney park.

Disney Character Central

So head over to Disney Character Central now and any time you need a reminder of the magic the characters provide at Disney Parks around the world! I spent quite a bit of time there admiring the pictures of all my favorite Disney friends. You can also follow the creators on twitter, “like” them on facebook and join their facebook group. Check them out and tell ’em Zanna sent you! 😉

Complete Guide to Disney iPhone/iPod Touch app: #21, Miss M

Set of 3 Audio Guides from Lou Mongello: #9, Lynne from Texas

Celebration magazines: #25,  Brian Hubbard

Walt Disney World Trivia Guide: #2, DVC Mom

Please contact me at [email protected] with your mailing information! (For those that won the apps, I only need your email address.) Thanks so much to everyone that participated – I promise it isn’t the last giveaway. Thank you for reading!

…

Oh, and speaking of reading, I wanted to share a site I found recently, thanks to the fabulous DisMarks. You are checking out DisMarks, right?? If not, you should, it has some of the best Disney articles all in one spot. Anyway, I saw an entry from http://www.parkeology.com and clicked over to read it. I laughed, I cried, and I didn’t even have to kiss 3 bucks goodbye (someone tell me they remember that tag line?).

Parkeology has been around since December of last year but they are not short on great topics, even better pictures and videos, and a hilarious commentary on some really unique aspects of Disney Parks. Shane and TeevTee have some amazing facts and history to share. Seriously, I almost didn’t want to tell anyone about it because I wanted to keep their awesomeness to myself, but that would’ve been very evil of me. So please check them out and be sure to comment and let them know how you like their stuff. It’s my mission to go back and read all the blogs I missed from them and I can’t wait.

Tip-toeing quietly in the footsteps of my friends on MainStGazette, ImagiNERDing, and TheDisneyFoodBlog, I’m pleased to bring you my version of a weekend wrap-up of Disney posts that caught my eye. I hope you enjoy the items as much as I did and as always, feel free to tell me your favorites from this week in the comments.

  • AJ from The Disney Food Blog confirms what we were all hoping for: The Wishes Dessert Party Returns March 28th!
  • Ryan shows us how things have changed in Epcot since 1984 and the Kodak Picture Spots shown on the park’s guidemap – as they look today – on the Main Street Gazette. While you’re there, check out his coverage of the directional signs of Animal Kingdom’s Asia.
  • Our pal Lou Mongello of WDW Radio tempts us all as he tours the snacks of Disney’s Hollywood Studios in search of the park’s best snack. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed!
  • On Yesterland, Werner Weiss discusses the urban legend of the Swan and Dolphin hotels being reversed – with some really cool photos in the piece. I loved this article since our wedding reception was held at the Dolphin (14 years ago this October eep!) these resorts have always held a special place in my Disney history.
  • And finally, in light of the recent announcement from Disney Parks unveiling their Premier Passport which covers admission to both Walt Disney World and Disneyland, Scott from DisneyBiz calculates exactly when this annual pass pays for itself in terms of park visits.

Happy reading and see you next week in ZannaLand!

Looking for Great Disney Content in One Spot? DisMarks to the Rescue!

dismarks buttonWhen I first started finding Disney people on twitter and reading their blogs, I noticed a little icon on some of the posts: a little Cinderella castle with the word “mark it” underneath:  What is this? I thought and clicked it {ok, I’m not usually that click-happy on the internet, but it obviously looked legit}. I was then taken to DisMarks.com, so I checked it out. It looked like a “digg.com”-type site only ALL about Disney topics. What could be better? Well, DisMarks is on twitter and facebook, so the content gets tweeted and posted there as well!

How it works is you submit content (yours or other people’s)  and support other posts by “marking” them. DisMarks lists the most popular marks for current submissions on the main page, as well as upcoming posts. You can also search by topic or tag and comment to the posts submitted on DisMarks.  It’s a great way to get subject matter out to more people that may not have seen it otherwise – to pay it forward too. Actually, the site has a whole Getting Started page which explains the process much better!

The Disney Community – The Magic is in YOU!

Faithful readers may have noticed a gap in updates here in ZannaLand. Never fear – I have lots of fun stuff lined up. I’ve just been working on some behind-the-scenes (or backstage to use a Disney term) things on the site and trying to make it better organized for visitors that may be looking for specific posts or planning help. In addition (outside of running after my 3 kids), I’ve been working on another page within the site to list some other places to get your Disney fix online. Basically a blog roll, as is very common on other sites – however I really want to make this a lot more than just a listing of links. And here’s why…{you knew there had to be a story in here right?}

I know I’ve talked a bit in the past on here about the how and why of wanting to write about Disney. To go into a little more detail, it was really because of twitter and the amazing Disney community that lives there. A year ago, I was just a fan connecting with other Disney fans on twitter and discovering that there existed so many sites and blogs about Disney. When the thought occurred to me to change the focus of my blog here to one about Walt Disney World, the support was overwhelming. I never heard a “oh, don’t bother, there are 10,000+ Disney sites out there!” or “it’s already been done, what could you possibly bring to the table?” even though those were exactly the doubts I was having. Quite the contrary, I received cheers and open arms waiting to help. And trust me – I asked for help – a LOT.
