Twenty Eight & Main-New Disney Merchandise Line-Limited Release Items

While I may be totally messing with Disney’s intended demographic for their newest merchandise line, Twenty Eight & Main – designed for the “Discerning Gentleman…” I can’t help but be excited for the great graphics and designs used and the promise of more to come. A few months back, Merchandise Communications Manager Steven Miller gave us a little sneak peek of the Twenty Eight & Main line, via the Disney Parks Blog:

One of the merchandise programs I’m most excited about this year is called Twenty Eight & Main. This Disney Theme Park Merchandise exclusive collection of quality goods was designed for the discerning gentleman who enjoys visiting Disney Parks (hey, that’s me!). When I first saw artwork last summer, I couldn’t wait to tell the world just how awesome it looks. I caught up with Bobby Bongiorno, merchandiser for graphic apparel, to learn more about what other gentlemen like me can expect later this year.

TEAM6535632

“Twenty Eight & Main will be known for quality and attention to detail,” explained Bobby. “We intend to use unique fabrics and washes for many items. We will also include embellishment techniques such as light weight embroidery, patches and appliqués to create items that will be functional and will fit great. The look will be classic, yet stylish and modern in every sense.”

The collection will contain apparel items such as short and long-sleeved shirts, vintage-style T-shirts, hats and more. There will also be accessories including drinkware, D-Tech phone cases and other travel items.

And now, a few of these items are showing up with a bit of detective work on the Disney Store site…I shared the links this morning on my twitter and facebook accounts, but when I found some more products, I thought it warranted a blog post to spread the love.

Here is what I’ve found so far – wood signs and t-shirts – the signs are a bit pricey at $130 each, but DisneyStore is running a $30 special on Twenty Eight & Main tees when you buy 2 or more, so that’s something anyway. From what we are hearing, the quality of these shirts will be worth it. We’ll have to see. As for now, the designs are tempting:

Some of the Twenty Eight & Main line of designs had already shown up at the small kiosk called The Sign Shop in the Marketplace Co-Op at Downtown Disney Marketplace.

Steven Miller also asked Bobby about the inspiration behind the program’s name, in case you were wondering:

“The name was inspired by the year of Mickey Mouse’s debut and the timeless Main Street, U.S.A.” replied Bobby. “The lion reaching towards the star symbolizes Walt Disney’s pursuit of his dreams. The same lion can be found on the coat of arms featured on iconic Disney Park castles.”

More Twenty Eight & Main items debut this fall in select merchandise locations at Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts. (And right now at the DisneyStore.com!) We’ll be sure to keep tracking any new releases. Until then – happy shopping!

Here at Zannaland, I’ve loved tracking fun Disney Merchandise from the start. Whether it’s Disney Dooney & Bourke purses, Duffy the Disney Bear, Ear Hats, Minnie Ear Headbands, Disney antenna toppers, or unique t-shirt designs, I’ve loved sharing it all! I was recently at Downtown Disney West Side and Marketplace and realized it had been a while since I’d done a t-shirt update. I saw some fun shirts at D-Street and World of Disney and thought I’d share them here.

Some of these designs have been out for a while but I wanted to post them anyway as they showcase the really cool retro/vintage designs that have been sweeping twitter as of late. It’s been great to follow along the designers as their work shows up in the parks. While some shirts may appeal to a select group of Disney history buffs, thankfully, Disney is taking a chance on these cool designs that poke fun at their past or even present. Fun New T-Shirt Designs at Disney Bring Smiles

Magical Day shirt
I think this is my new favorite. Sparkly, v-neck and a fun saying - perfect!

As you know, I love sharing merchandise that grabs my attention in the Parks, and Disney has really been pushing the envelope on creative t-shirt designs in the past year or so. Fans across twitter have appreciated the artistic, ironic, or self-deprecating designs that have come out recently.

I think the first time I actually laughed out loud at a Disney t-shirt, it was with these literal Mickey and Donald shirts. Now each time I enter a park, I find a shirt that makes me giggle or impresses me with its style. The Disney Couture line, along with Disney’s partnership with Hanes have led to some great new designs and I’m sure there are more to come. Here are a few of my favorites, collected over the last month or so:

Ears shirt
For your favorite selective hearer
Galaxy Mickey
Interplanetary Mickey
Rescue Rangers
Chip and Dale – Rescue Rangers! Next to graffiti Mickey
Balloon Castle
LOVE this design. Brilliant!
Refurbishment shirt
Perfect for work-outs!
Jimi Hendrix Mickey

Topography Mickey
Topographical Mickey?
Nerdy Mickey

Mickey Bar shirt
I remember these Mickey bars, do you?
Brit Mickey

Hipster Mickey
Love these two: Old school Mickey and Hipster Mickey
glass slipper shirt
Love this glass slipper – beautiful!
Magical Day Shirt

Tiana Shirt
Love this take on Tiana too

I think it’s impossible for me not to like an Alice shirt

NEW! Tokidoki Meets Marvel T-Shirts at Walt Disney World

While visiting Downtown Disney’s West Side last night, of course I had to stop in to D-Street, my favorite spot for fun merchandise. I was so excited when I spotted these new shirts from Tokidoki, featuring Marvel characters. I love Tokidoki, the Japanese inspired brand from Italian designer Simone Legno and his partners and have been known to covet their branded items from Sephora. I couldn’t think of a cuter collaboration to expand the Marvel line to those who may not otherwise be interested. For instance, my almost-11-year-old daughter instantly wanted the Incredible Hulk shirt and she has pretty much no interest in comic book characters. I may have to pick one or two up myself! Check them out below: (click to enlarge)

Tokidoki Marvel Incredible Hulk
This is the Incredible Hulk shirt my daughter wanted. He's so cute with Cactus Pup!

You might actually like him when he's angry...

Tokidoki Marvel Iron Man
Captain Coco and Coco Bella hang around with Iron Man. Can't stand the cute!

Tokidoki Marvel Wolverine
Ciao Ciao finds out Wolverine comes in handy at a cookout!

Each shirt is $28. I hope this is the first of many new designs we see. {There are actually quite a few on sale at Tokidoki‘s site!} Which is your favorite?

Epcot’s Scratch ‘N Sniff Soarin’ T-shirts Bring the Magical Scents Home!

Last week while exploring the merchandise area outside of Soarin’ (aka the Green Thumb Emporium – thanks to @mousemisers for that name that slipped my mind), a bright orange kid’s shirt caught my eye. I picked it up and realized it had a big “Scratch ‘n Sniff” sticker on it. “GENIUS!” I thought. I scratched and sniffed and got a whiff of orange just like in the Soarin’ attraction (without the wait!).The shirt features Mickey and Minnie hang gliding over an orange grove with hot air balloons in the background.

Behind the orange-scented shirt was an army green colored shirt with a pine forest and Mickey and Minnie hang gliding over rapids. This shirt was supposed to be pine-scented, however, to me it smelled a bit like men’s deodorant. {But really, we’ve all been behind guests in a Disney park where we wished they had a deodorant-scented shirt, right? 😉 } The point is, this is a great and logical pairing of ‘t-shirt technology’ and I was really excited to see (and smell) them!

The orange grove shirt comes only in kid sizes at $24.95 while the pine forest comes in adult sizes at $30.95. Be sure to check them out the next time you visit The Land at Epcot!

Thanks to my kids for helping me capture these pics! Sorry the lighting is not the best - I could've moved but didn't want cast members to think I was mouse-lifting! 😉

Vintage Disney Cartoons Make Fashion at the Parks

Disney Channel fans have been buzzing on twitter and facebook recently about the addition of classic Mickey and the gang cartoons showing up in interstitials during regular Disney Channel programming. I love this because when the Disney Channel first started back in 1983, this is the type of wonderful animation I used to watch. Good Morning Mickey! and Donald Duck Presents were my favorites, along with of course Mousercise with Kellyn. All of the vintage Disney animation shorts became beloved friends as I was growing up.

I was thrilled to see t-shirts at Downtown Disney‘s World of Disney this past weekend featuring some of these classic featurettes. Here are some pictures I took, along with videos of the original shorts to enjoy…
